SALES vs. REPRESENTATION
A Realtor® is not a salesperson!
A real estate agent is legally required to act in their client’s best interests when representing you in buying or selling a house. Salespeople are not licensed. Real estate agents are. When a real estate agent enters into a contract to represent you, you become that agent's client.
The agent is LEGALLY required to give clients loyalty, obedience, confidentiality, disclosure, reasonable care, and accounting. These attributes are called fiduciary duties and an agent can be fined or lose the privilege of practicing real estate if they breach those fiduciary duties.
For more information about the importance of agency, contact Bonnie Erickson, Realtor® in the Minneapolis, St. Paul area of Minnesota.
