The REALTOR® Journey

It was an infomercial “How to Become a Millionnaire in Real Estate” that caught my eye.  I knew fast profit was a fantasy, but also believed slow and steady wins the race, so I took the plunge. The “program” led to my first broker where I learned property management, tenant management, codes, and costs of repairing houses. My real estate license was earned and I officially became a Realtor®.

My second broker was an investment partner in buying distressed houses, fixing, and re-selling. I found profitable projects, created scopes of work, supervised repair crews and met city inspectors. During this phase, it became clear that I enjoyed traditional real estate sales. Listing homes for sellers; showing homes to buyers; and assisting both through the piles of paperwork was my forte´!

Broker three was an exclusive buyers’ brokerage. While there, it became clear that a Realtor’s® main job is representation rather than sales. My commitment to clients became even more important. My experience in rehabbing houses combined with my pledge to work in my clients’ best interest brought huge value to the transaction. By the time I left the exclusive buyers’ company, I had become a top producer and most of my business was past client referrals.

As our children left the nest, my husband’s and my dream to buy an old Victorian to “rehab” before retirement was realized. Our beloved Cape Cod with its acre of suburban land, site of many family memories, was sold, and we moved to St. Paul. With the personal move, came my professional move to Tangletown Realty. I’ve come full circle now with more refined goals: “rehab” my old Victorian for myself (scary as that may look); and provide EXCELLENCE WITH A SMILE for my real estate clients!
